"Olive Juice"
A point to ponder: American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating 1 olive from each salad served in first-class*.
So, if AA eliminated, say, first class all together.......then maybe I could check a bag for free again.

Banana Bust
From the AP:
A plan to float a giant
helium-filled banana blimp over Texas has gone bust -- due to a lack of money.
Montreal-based artiest Cesar Saez says the banana plan is suspended.
He
says the whole attempt was to develop the idea of artworks in space.
The
plan to float a huge, inflated banana over Texas was announced in late 2006. It
called for a launch near Hermosillo, Mexico, this fall.
The San Antonio
Express-News reports the artwork, drifting eastward at about a 20-mile altitude,
would have been visible over Texas until it eventually disintegrated.
Saez
has said he wanted "to bring some humor to the Texas sky."
Points to ponder on this one:
- Why a banana? Why not a tomato? It's a fruit, too, you know...
- Why Texas? Of course, everything is bigger in Texas, bananas included I guess...
- Why did it cost so much? Hmm, I dunno....maybe he decided to put gas in his car. Oh, no, he's an artist, so he probably has boycotted cars due to fuel. No, wait.....helium is a fuel, right?
- Why is this news?????
- WHY??? Just plain old WHY??
Should I have labeled this News of the Stupid? I mean, really, with all that is happening in the world, what is the point of this. This would bring no humor to my life. All it has done is allowed me to mock someone else. Okay, yes, NOW I can see the humor in it.....
Oh, an update....I learned something new today. A banana, botanically speaking, is not just a fruit....it's an herb! See, you just learned something just by tuning in to the antics of D&E!

See wha' had happened was
Okay, so as E has mentioned, I was wicked determined to get that bottle of ginger ale open! My Mexican thinking tells me, "Just open the damn thing, no matter how ghetto it looks!" So, I proceed to put the bottle in the sink, grab a knife and gently poke a whole in it....rrrrright. Before I knew it I had a ginger ale geyser in my kitchen. Aside from having it in my hair, on my glasses and clothes. I had it on the ceiling, counters and cabinets. I yell for E who is on the phone with Momma B, comes in laughing. Her Cajun thinking already knew it was an idiotic idea! To make a long story short, I proceed to cut a tiny whole in the bottle and pour myself a glass! Needless to say, it tastes NOTHING like I remembered it to be and it was flat...could it be the earlier co2 action going on in the kitchen? DUD.

News of the Stupid, as presented by eb
An Austin woman recently put her soul up for sale on a popular online auction and shopping site. Going rate for a big-haired Texan is apparently only $1000. I figure that if only 11,000 more idiots are successful at doing the same, then they could all get together and buy the photos of those new twins born to two too pretty people. No, not me and D, we'd ask for far more money to exploit our kids..........
That's today's "News of the Stupid". Stay tuned, I am sure we can come up with more.

Ginger Ale my Ars!
More than likely, this is only amusing to D and me. D was so very excited to finally find Diet Ginger Ale in a 2 liter bottle. So, we get it home, get it chilled......and then we attempt to open it. I'd say that normally, opening a 2 liter of soda takes about 3 seconds. Each of us tried to open this thing for about 10 minutes. We tried everything imaginable. We even rested and tried again this morning. D has two blisters on her hand from trying. Are you kidding me? I suggested that she call the comments hot line asking just how to open this thing. Or, should we return it to the store for a refund, as it is obviously defective? For, now, it sits, staring and taunting D........

Getting back to normal
Last week was a long one for both me and especially for D. D arrived home Sunday evening and is now trying to get back into the swing of things at home and at work. Work is busy for both of us. On a good note though, finally, we will be on the same schedules, with the exception of her working on Saturdays. But, this way we have time together each night, and she won't be burned out from working until 10pm. And, it will save lots on gas money.
Oh, and our boys just might be the cutest! They are semi-finalists in the Cutest Pet Contest! Keep your fingers crossed for us!
cheers.....

RIP Grandpa
On Sunday, July 6, 2008, D lost her Grandpa. Although tragic and unexpected, he died peacefully. He leaves behind a large family of loved ones, including D, his first born grandchild. He will be greatly missed.....
As fate would have it, D was able to see him just last month and was able to take a picture with him (and Grandma), one of only a few pictures of them together that she has....
