Food and Family

I was lucky enough to visit the family in La. this past weekend for Grandma's 80th. It was a good time and I got to see a lot of people I hadn't seen in a very long time. I'm glad I was able to make the trip. Here is grandma back in the good old days:

I took mom to Oak Alley for lunch and drove by Felicite Plantation (Kate Hudson's "The Skeleton Key" was filmed here, only there is no bayou in the back):

A highlight of the trip was watching my Dads boil their first pot of crawfish together. They were excellent (the crawfish too)...... I was advised by a certain someone that I was not allowed to post the video the event itself so here is just a pre-boil picture:

Finally, I returned home to D who was laid up in bed with a strained back. Thankfully, she is doing much better now! I wasn't allowed a picture of her to share, though......

Breaking the silence....

Been a while since I have been able to get on here and say a lil something. So here it is, 7:50p, stuck at work, as E mentioned I'm on a wicked new schedule that has proven to be both good and bad! I know my Love has been pretty good at keeping you all up to speed, I just wanted to take a minute to let everyone know that I am still here and that I will be doing better to keep involved in the blogging effort!!

Over and out...

Perty Lil Cajun Queen

I'm off to La. for Grandma's 80th tomorrow. Short trip but will get to see lots of people. Looking forward to it. D plans on chillin with nothing but her music on....because with me home, it's a competition between TV and Stereo.....

Not much happenin around here....D is having a pretty hard time with allergies these days. We're just waiting to move.

Boring, I know....But will have lots to report in the coming weeks!

This week....

We're trying to get better at blogging, which means that those who read this get to hear about the little things. Well, just Lynn because I think she's the only one who actually reads it! This week has already started out crazy and busy. D's on her new schedule 1-10PM, but we get weekends together. It's a slow adjustment for us. But, I know she'll kick some butt. I've started the week out with a busy day at work with drama and having to do a suicide assessment. I hate those; they are pretty scary. Two of the munchkins have been having tummy issues on and off, so for the second nite in three, I've had to get up at 4AM for a quick potty run. But they are doing better. The week may be long but I have a date to look forward to Saturday nite. And, if anyone knows what the surprise is, give me a hint!

You can chipmunk off my cup....

D took me to Austin's La Swamp Thing and Crawfish festival today. She enjoyed some corndogs while I chowed down on some mudbugs. Note that my honorary cajun makes much better red beans than these people did! It was a fun time, then we hit the batting cages.
