A few pictures from the tubing on Saturday. Wonderful weather, and great fun with friends. Only one minor slip when D went down the dam without her tube. She's fine but was a little scared!
On Sunday, we finally got some much needed rain and hope for more today!
It's been a really long week. I worked on Saturday, which I never do.
I did get that time back on Monday but that was sitting at car dealership. Of course, you all know about that part of the week -- the car buying extravaganza. That left us getting home late a couple of days. Aside from that, D has a sinus infection that is taking its time going away. Work was crazy too -- it was our food bank week, which means total chaos. Factor in the heat and you have a perfect day of unpleasant client interactions.
So, tomorrow we are going tubing on the Guadalupe.
I am the resident expert at clearing the highways of nails. With that, we had 2 tires changed in the last month (although they needed changing anyway, I just sped up the process). On Monday, James (James II that is, our black Saturn VUE) didn't sound happy, so I took him in to get checked. Not an hour into that...I text D letting her know that James is being appraised. I would never make this decision alone so returned home intending to head back to Saturn on Sunday with D. We returned shortly after.
And left with a new Saturn VUE XR V6. For less than what we paid (monthly) before. This surpasses picking up a pack of gum at the check-out line. His name is Jaime. And he says hello to everyone.
Central Texas experiences record heat, with no rain. When I leave for work, it's about 80 degrees already (mind you, this was not even the high in Cali). On the drive home, the temp ranges from 99-104. And really, it doesn't cool off until I pull into the driveway.
Non-profits being audited left and right. Work is busy with site reviews, audits, and trainings. But for once, I am actually caught up with everything.
Supervisors aren't the brightest colors. We anticipate that D's shift will be crappy. Why? Because the supervisors could care less about keeping employees happy. The shift could change day to day, hour to hour. I hope that sales suck and they get bitten in the ars.
Allergies are on the rise. D is seeing the makings of a cold but has jumped right on it. Hopefully, it will pass soon and not pass along....
Quitting is cool now. I've tried too many times to count but am trying again. To quit smoking, that is. It's actually been going pretty well. Which reminds me that I need more lozenges.
Movie Reviews. Ratings 1-5 stars (5=good, in case you didn't know) First, The Bucket List -- funny and touching. 4 Stars. The Happening -- the ending is disappointing (and predictable in these times). 2.5 Stars. Sex and the City -- excellent and worth several more views. 5 Stars. Indiana Jones -- should have left it at the Last Crusade. 2 Stars. The Strangers -- I screamed, nuff said. 4 Stars. Check back next week for a review of Kung Fu Panda, in a theater near you.
That's the news from our area, now let's see what's happening in your neck of the woods......
So, we wanted to get the new Wii Fit but that is impossible to find right now. So....we are kickin' it old school with Paper Mario. Ideally, video games should take you out of reality and reduce stress, but damn, this is hard!
We flew in Tuesday morning to sunny southern California.......we surprised D's mom for her B-day, then took her to dinner.
Wednesday, D and I headed to her Dad's. On the way we stopped at the Getty museum in LA, which was amazing, then hit UCLA campus. After that, we had a late lunch on the Santa Monica pier. The weather was great -- about 60 degrees -- too cold for skinny dipping, but we had a nice walk on the beach.
On Thursday we went to Downtown Disney for some shopping and visited with D's Dad and Mommy Margaret at their business.
Friday morning, we picked up D's cousins from the airport. In the evening, we went to a Dodger game (my first ever). The Dodgers beat the Cubs 3-1 (I think). D also caught a great video of a drunk being thrown out.
Saturday, we drove out to Laguna Beach for the wedding. The wedding was on the water and it was beautiful.
Sunday -- FINALLY -- Disneyland!!!!! Truly was the happiest place on earth!
We will not speak of missing our flight home, our bag being overweight, our re-booked flight (to San Antonio) being delayed, or the SA airport having no rental cars.......That would just ruin it all!
